From AfterEllen

AE: So what's happening for Penelope on Criminal Minds this season?
We're on episode 3 and I'm working a lot, so I'm really grateful for that. I love the people I work with so it's so great to be able to be with them because a lot of times, in episodes past when I just work one day and I'm just in my office, I don't get to see them. And when I do, it's always like first day of school because they all have inside jokes from last week and I don't know what's going on, they're all trying to catch me up and it's weird. I love them and so I know that episode 8 is all about Penelope.

It's just fun. It's so great to have everybody back and it's a really good job. It's kind of weird because I know it now so well and I haven't done anything this long so it's Season 7 and so many episodes. I'm so grateful on this train, I will stay on this train as long as the train runs.

AE: Are you excited that AJ and Paget are back?
I love them so much. I'm so excited! It all worked beautifully because Rachel [Nichols] is there, she was wonderful. Now she's on the cover of Maxim and Conan's coming out and I know she's in Detroit right now doing a movie, and she's rising like a Phoenix. I always said about those girls, and I meant it and it's true: They will rise like Phoenixes. In my dreamiest world, I never thought they would be back and now they're back and because of that break, all these changes happened with them and their characters are different so that's cool.

AE: You have a girlfriend, right?
Yes — a fiancee. We go back and forth because we don't know when we're doing it. I don't know — everything's wonderful, there's no problems so it's like "Meh." [shrugs] We don't know if we're going to wait until it's legal but we're madly in love. We're about to celebrate our five year anniversary at the end of August.

AE: Congrats! What does she do?
She works with digital cinema. She does a lot of stuff that Penelope Garcia does. She works for technicolor. She does a lot of computer stuff — creating iPhone apps and things like that.

AE: How do you make time to see one another when you're so busy?
We live together so we see each other. It's sort of like "When are you feeding the dog? Am I feeding the dog today, or are you feeding the dog?" We make time. Right now, because I'm doing so many things at the same time, it gets a little dicey. And it's girls, so it's like "I wanna wrap myself around your kidneys and live there!" It's good.

AE: Have you ever not gotten a job because of your openness about your sexuality?
I always feel so weird about all that because sexuality is such a weird thing. Clearly, I'm with a woman and I love her and I'm super queer and, at the same time, I can totally appreciate guys.

I totally get there are people that are like "I'm only into guys, I don't get girls." That's not where my Kinsey scale lies. I don't think I'm bisexual. But I'm very "Whatever!" I find all kinds of people attractive. Do I tend to err on the — do I like my boys with makeup on? Yes I do. Do I tend to like girls whether they have makeup on or not? Yes I do! Am I with a woman? Yes I am. So you can deduce that — "Oh, OK you're a lesbian." But I sometimes find myself not bristling about somebody else that says they're a lesbian, but I was talking to [my partner] Melanie a few weeks ago and she hates "queer." That's my favorite word. But she likes lesbian. That isn't my word. That fits me in such a simplistic way.

So I haven't found that yet. I feel like that's my job as an actor — that if I was crazy straight as an arrow, that I think — I hope I could wrap my head around it. I find it fascinating with some people — "Really? You don't find girls even remotely attractive? Really?" I'm very open with my sexuality and I think that's one of the prerequisites in being able to play all different things. I'm happy with sexuality, period. However, whatever gets you going. Whatever you do, that's fine. And I'm on this show and I get to flirt all the time with boys and I get to do a lot of things. Also I stretch my muscles in different kinds of ways. Right now I'm in a play making out with a girl, and at work I mentally make out with Shemar, so I do all kinds of things. No one's going to care. No one's saying, "I can't stop thinking about you with a lady!" That's not going to happen.

It's absolutely part of my identity. Melanie doesn't like to go at all to these kinds of things because I usually have to work, but I know when I'm on the carpet I'm just like, "God I want her to be here so I can hold her hand!" so someone can take a picture of us. I'm with her. And like all the other stuff, it's just fun to do all those different things. It's not so weird — everyone's got their own journey.

Criminal Minds: The Band is Back Together!

The Women of Criminal Minds Celebrate: The Band Is Back Together!

By Matt Webb Mitovich at TVLINE

What’s old is new — and improved — on CBS’ Criminal Minds, which on Sept. 21 will enter its seventh season armed for bear, with both A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster restored as series regulars.

At a Television Critics Association soirée last week, I huddled with Brewster and Kirsten Vangsness (aka Prentiss and Garcia) to cheer on Minds‘ fan-facilitated reunion, when before you knew it Cook (who plays JJ) joined in the revelry as well [see photo]. You kinda had to be there to feel the love going ’round, and that’s what I hope this transcript of our festive four-way delivers.

TVLINE | Kirsten, did you even get a chance to miss Paget?

KIRSTEN VANGSNESS | Yes. Hell yes. I got the chance to miss her in a big, huge way. I was already grateful and appreciative for both her and A.J. I didn’t need to be more so!

TVLINE | What is the feeling like on the set going into the new season — is it as if you “got the band back together”?

PAGET BREWSTER | It felt like the band’s back together, yeah!

VANGSNESS | For me, having been there, it was sort of like, “Well, that was totally unnecessary.” It was what it was, and it was great to have Rachel Nichols there… [but] now [Paget and A.J.] are back because they need to be back. They’re a huge part of the show.

TVLINE | Joe Mantegna and I spoke about how the fans’ voices have been heard, which is nice to have happen once in a while.

BREWSTER | And from what I can tell, for maybe the second or third time ever, as far as actually getting a network to change its mind about what it was doing. It’s certainly nice being on the good end of that! [Laughs] But yeah, unfortunately a mistake was made when A.J. and I were let go. Rachel [Nichols] did a great job, and then when we were brought back she was let go. So frankly, it was a lot of unnecessary firing, which is a shame, but… Rachel is going to be in huge movies [including Conan the Barbarian, opening Aug.19], she’s on the cover of Maxim, she’s totally hot….

VANGSNESS | What’s really cool is that [BAU Agent] Ashley Seaver was named after a woman who was dying that loved Criminal Minds, and that Joe befriended. Rachel has the legacy of being that character, which is important.

[A.J. Cook suddenly joins us, and the ladies clink glasses. As Cook introduces herself to me and smiles, I admittedly lose some coherency. See photo.]

TVLINE | Paget, where do we first see Prentiss this season? Is she still in France?

BREWSTER | The first episode is a story about how I have to come back, and people are surprised by that. I mean, JJ and Hotch knew [about the faked death], but….

TVLINE | Are those who weren’t in on the ruse a bit peeved?

VANGSNESS | Some of the gang is peeved, but I’m like, “Whee!” Garcia’s just happy.

A.J. COOK | [Overdramatically] Relationships will fall apart!

BREWSTER | It’s true. Relationships will unravel.

COOK | You’ve got to make it dramatic.

BREWSTER | You can’t go pretendin’ to be dead and mess your friends up and not get a little yelled at!

TVLINE | One silver lining to all of this is that Prentiss got a helluva story out of it.

BREWSTER | It was a great [exit] story, and fun to do.

COOK | [To Paget] You were so badass. I was so glad they gave you that story.

VANGSNESS | Listen, we have a totally new JJ, Emily has gone through this journey…. That is a testament to those two and their talent. They’re alchemists, coming back with, like, 10 new facets.

TVLINE | Yeahhh, JJ was one cool cucumber as she was slowly revealed in the season finale.

COOK | With the legs, you mean? [Laughs] It was like Mrs. Robinson. Yeah, JJ’s come a long way, and that has been fun for me. Wow, you really are a fan of our show! You know what’s going on more than I sometimes do.

TVLINE | Will Timothy Murphy be back as Ian Doyle?

BREWSTER | He’s back, yeah. Everybody loves Timothy Murphy!

TVLINE | And where do things stand with Hotch (played by Thomas Gibson)? The finale seemed to set up that maybe he’s moving on….

COOK | It’s funny where we pick up everything…. You kind of see where everybody’s been for the last 3-1/2 months.

BREWSTER | No, it’s six months later — isn’t it?

VANGSNESS | It goes back-and-forth, remember?

BREWSTER | Oh yeah…. There is a passage of time, and the first episode is not linear. It’s a series of flash-forwards and rewinds to get us to where we are. It’s amazing.

COOK | It is a really well-written episode, yeah…. It’s so, so good.

Thomas Gibson On Hotch, Video Interview

Interview Thomas Gibson from Monte-Carlo

From Télé-Loisir
Thomas Gibson ‘Criminal Minds stories are universal’

Thomas Gibson plays Hotchner, Unit Chief on Criminal Minds. While in France, he gave us an interview.

Thomas Gibson interprète Hotchner, le superviseur-chef d'Esprits Criminels. De passage en France, il nous a accordé une interview.

Criminal Minds, this is an unexpected and successful series worldwide. On TF1, Hotchner and Rossi’s gang often get 9 millions fans this season. A success that leaves Thomas Gibson stunned, who play Special agent and boss Aaron Hotchner since 6 seasons ( the series will be back for a 7 season) How to explain this kind of success?

Thomas Gibson alludes to the universality of the scenarios, which always ask the viewers; how can anyone fall in such a way that they would switch from the dark side of the force and become a murderer? The actor, who will turn 50 in march ( edit note: that will be in July!) in 2012, talks about the man that inspires him, a former FBI agent who is now a consultant on Criminal Minds and who ensure the accuracy of scripts and situations Then Gibson treat himself; claiming through us a little more daring in the scenarios, it miss great arguments between teammates, As you strive to be wise ......

A trop vouloir faire sage...

Actor Franceso Quinn, son of Anthony Quinn, dies at 48

LOS ANGELES — Francesco Quinn, who like his father Anthony Quinn embraced a career in acting, died at his home in Malibu, California on Friday at the age of 48, his agent said Sunday.

"We are extremely saddened to announce the untimely death of our dear client and friend, Francesco Quinn," said his talent agent, Arlene Thornton, in a statement Sunday.

The son of legendary actor Anthony Quinn, who passed away in 2001, was pronounced dead in Malibu, the beachside haven for celebrities west of Los Angeles.

"The exact cause of death has not yet been determined," added Thornton. According to local media reports, Quinn died from a heart attack.

"He was an amazing talent, but more importantly, an amazing human being," said Thornton. "It was an honor to call myself his agent."

Born in Rome in 1963 to Anthony Quinn and his second wife Jolanda Addolori, Francesco Quinn successfully pursued the same career as his father.

He made his debut in Oliver Stone's "Platoon" in 1986 and went on to act in more than 30 films. The most recent box-office hit was "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," which was released in theaters this summer.

The younger Quinn also played many television roles including parts in series such as "The Shield," "Criminal Minds," "ER" and "24."

Francesco Quinn had three children.
