  1. I'm as dubious about it as MGG! I hope it's not a repeat of the Beth fiasco.

  2. I don't care wether it's Reid, Hotch, Morgan or any other of our guys (or girls), but I wish the writers would concentrate more on profiling and less on external personnal stuff which just takes time from the cases...
I don't want CM to turn into a soap with some inside crime stories...

    1. hey I'm very agree Criminal Minds is about Criminals and relationships are... are... something wrong ;D If Seaver is gone and so many people wants Beth (and now this 'unknown' girl) leaving the show too right?

  4. It's Messer were talking about. She usually talks out of her you-know-what.

I do hope it turns out to be true this time though! Reid is my fav character and i only watch CM for him. I am happy with any storyline with him in it. And i loved him with Lila and with the bartender. Bring it on!

  5. I hope it turns out NOT to be true.....I like his character the way he is...nerdy. geeky. introverted..and shy......that is some of the reasons why his character has appealed to me personally..... I do like seeing the outside of work stuff also....just not like the soap opera stuff. I stopped watching them over 20 yrs ago...please do not bring it to this show.

  6. Okay, I know everyone is hating about this. But Reid is 30 years old. Even weird people are in relationships. They are in relationships with WEIRD PEOPLE though. SCORE ONE REID!

  7. I'm more than dubious about it too.

So, they stop Hotch's storyline with Beth because the actress isn't available and they decide to give Reid a girlfriend instead ?
Not thrilled here : even if I truly liked Beth it's just too many love storylines in a very short time.

We had Garcia and Kevin's problems, JJ marrying, Hotch and Beth, Rossi and his ex-wife, then Rossi and Strauss....all of that in a single season.
I was really hoping they would tone it down, as I, too, preferred the darker atmosphere of Criminal Minds.

Virgil Williams said on twitter that Reid would "go yard" in episode six, I suppose that it's linked to that storyline....I was really hoping for something else.
On a side note, it's interesting to note that even MGG isn't so sure
about that new storyline for Reid...

Truth be told, I think the Criminal Minds ride will stop there for me. I simply don't think I'm in the age group they have been targeting during the last seasons.

Sorry if I sound too negative, it's just my honest feelings, but I bear no animosity and I wish good luck to all the cast and crew.

  8. i think if would be great if reid got either a girlfriend or a boyfriend. but with messer handling the storyline, if the beth/hotch storyline is any indication, reid/gf will be one gag-inducing cliche after another, all stolen from a lifetime movie. mgg is right to be dubious.

can we go back to concentrating on the cases? can someone please give messer a rectal-cranial reversal/correction, and get her back on the right track before she completely wrecks the show?

  9. Just a question : what about the storylines they were supposed to have in store for Reid ?
They dropped the headaches storyline, I dealt with that.
Then, they told us that his mother was having troubles and that Reid had taken a three months sabbatical. In the end (and despite what the writers said) we weren't even told what was wrong with Reid's mother.
I would have preferred the writers to expand on that.

That show has changed too much for me to be able to enjoy it anymore.

  10. =0 NO! Even though I'm REALLY curious to see who's going to be his girlfriend.

  12. Oh dear. I was hoping that this year there would, finally, be a decent storyline for Reid and what we are getting would appear to be some lame romance arc.
Could this show please stop with the soap opera romance storylines and get back to concentrating on profiling. I gave up on CM last season and was hoping that S8 might draw me back but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

  13. Oh yes! Finally! I've been wanting Reid to have a personal life away from his mother for so long and now we finally get to see one! Oh, I am so excited!!!

I don't see what all of you negative sorts are upset about. Five minutes here and there does not make a soap opera. Beth was on screen all of, what, thirty minutes over the course of a season? Rossi got two episodes of personal life? JJ and Will had two episodes that they were pretty heavily featured in, but that relationship has been a central one in the show for years. None of it ever takes up more time than the cases, those have always been the bulk of the show.

Now I'll grant you that the cases over the past few season haven't been all that great ("mystery" means we DON'T see the Unsub in the first ten minutes) but that's entirely separate from the idea of personal lives. Seeing how this horrific job affects the team has always been a part of this show, and I, for one, am glad to see it continue.

  14. It's not that I am averse to glimpses of personal lives and, indeed, it is more than time that Reid actually had one. It's just that I dread the heavy handed and clumsy way that such backstories have been dealt with in recent seasons. In the early days it was handled with brevity and finesse and, above all, with continuity. Any such glimpses were woven into the episodes neatly. Now it seems like they are bludgeoned in with no connection to the rest of the story. If they do it well, then Hurrah! But I cannot help being dubious about how it's done and I expect we shall get another story left hanging.

  15. I, too, have grown weary of all the personal segments. Especially when something happens that is totally opposite of what has transpired previously (i.e. Rossi's obvious continuing dislike and disrespect of Strauss and all of sudden we're to believe they've been hooked up for sometime?) Get back to the reason this show has lasted so long or retitle it.

  16. Not especially enthusiastic about the news. I don't see this as 'character growth', it looks more like an attempt at 'normalization', so to speak.
"Reid turned 30 ? Okay : girlfriend time. Men must have girlfriends or something must be wrong with them, and Reid will look more like a normal character instead of, God forbid, an eccentric genius".

  17. A girlfriend for Reid? Really Erica Messer? That's the best storyline you could come up for Reid? How bout you get back to his headaches. You remember how you promised that plot was going to be explored in season 7 only to come up with the lame excuse that you couldn't get Jane Lynch so you put it on the backburner. I have no interest in seeing Reid getting a girlfriend and I honestly think that the CM writers don't have any idea what to do with Reid so they've come up with this tired story.

  18. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. I've noticed that since season 6 when both the JJ and Prentiss character's disappeared briefly that Criminal Minds has changed... and in my opinion not for the better...

I think Reid having a girlfriend is an interesting idea, I just hope they go with someone who fits with the cast and Reid's personality

  20. We cannot be sure yet, but I think it could be interesting! I mean I love criminal minds for the cases and profiling, but the characters and their lives truly make me relate to and connect with them! If this whole Reid thing is carried out nicely (hopefully) it will be great!
