CRIMINAL MINDS Season 10 - 1013. Nelson's Sparrow - TVGuide's Meet the "Godfathers of the BAU"
by Joyce Eng
Gideon is gone, but not forgotten.
That was the thinking Criminal Minds executive producer Erica Messer had when she decided to revisit the early days of the BAU with young Gideon and young Rossi at the helm on Wednesday's episode (9/8c, CBS).
"Within the mythology of the series, Gideon is a very important part," Messer tells TVGuide.com. "To go back and acknowledge that yeah, he was one of the godfathers of the BAU, it was like, let's do it. It's time to meet godfathers of the BAU. It's been a while since we've seen him as we knew him, but I thought, let's see who that guy was."
Gideon, of course, hasn't been on the drama since Mandy Patinkin notoriously left the show over creative differences in Season 3 and was replaced by Joe Mantegna as Rossi. Though Gideon's been mentioned over the years, Messer felt, now that they're in their 10th season, it was the right time to take a...

Gideon and Rossi will share the screen for the first time on Wednesday's Criminal Minds - well, young versions of them - and fans should expect more friendship than fireworks.

by Joyce Eng
Rossi is getting a blast from the past on Criminal Minds — and we're not talking about his second wife.

Is Joy actually Rossi's flesh and blood? That remains...

CRIMINAL MINDS Season 10 - Thomas Gibson Teases Halloween Scares, Rossi as Wingman - TV Line Interview
By Matt Webb Mitovich
Halloween is an occasion oft mutually enjoyed by both parents and their kids, so it was fitting that as Thomas Gibson directed tonight's episode of Criminal Minds (CBS, 9/8c), his 12-year-old son was among the guest cast.
TVLine invited Gibson to reflect on his latest turn behind the camera and the “treat” of it being a family affair, as well as share the “trick” to conjuring a compellingly creepy episode. Plus: How will Rossi help Hotch recover from a romantic setback?
TVLINE | So give me the bullet on this week's episode. What's going on?
GIBSON | We've got a guy abducting kids annually on Halloween for some strange reason, and after we find the kid that he's released on the 30th we fly to San Diego on the 31st to keep him from grabbing another one. We kick into high gear and do everything we can to find this child — who happens to be best friends with...

CRIMINAL MINDS Season 10 - Jennifer Love Hewitt's "Fearless" Agent and a Jane Lynch Return? 7 Teases for Season 10 - TVGuide Interview + Mega Buzz!
by Joyce Eng
Erica Messer can't think of a more perfect day for Criminal Minds to turn 10.
"Episode 10.1 airs on 10/1. How cool is that?" Messer tells TVGuide.com. "It wasn't planned. We didn't know that until we started back up and we were well in the swing of things, and [CBS] mentioned that the premiere would be a little later than usual because of Extant and Survivor. So it's great timing."
But for Messer, "seven" is the magic number for Season 10. After Jeanne Tripplehorn left the series in the Season 9 finale, Messer told TVGuide.com at the time that she wasn't sure if they would replace her or just stick with the remaining six BAU members. "It was a really big, long conversation with the network and the studio, and they said, 'Let's go...

5. Don't scratch
The season's still young, but Messer promises that the fourth episode is the show's "grossest episode yet." There's not much in the way of...
