Shemar Moore isn't interested in resting on his laurels.

Thanks to his role as Derek Morgan on the ABC series Criminal Minds, the former The Young and the Restless star has earned legions of new fans over the previous eight seasons.

As the series enters its ninth season, though, Moore isn't just keeping an eye on the future, he's actively building towards it.  Moore is returning to features for this first time since 2005's Diary of a Mad Black Woman with his crowdfunded passion project The Bounce Back.  He's also jumping into the animation game as the voice of Cyborg in the upcoming DC Universe movie Justice League: War.

Moore is spearheading The Bounce Back as both star and executive producer. The film centers Matthew Taylor, who pens a bestselling book an creates a whole philosophy as means of self-defense following the death of his first love. In order to continue hiding his heartbreak, Taylor mounts a year-long speaking tour espousing the benefits of his system, which keeps him from experiencing such vulnerability ever again. When he meets the beautiful and unpredictable Kristin Moreland, however, Tyler must renounce his book and his philosophy for a second chance at love.

I've been in love a few times in my life and one of the most difficult things to do after a bad break-up is to get back up on that proverbial horse. You're hurt, you feel a bit broken and vulnerable and the last thing you want is to open yourself up to the pain again. In the past, I have found myself filling up that loneliness with work, work and more work.  That did lead to success, but I felt as lonely as I ever had until... I realized something.  There is no substitute for love and the only way to get it back in my life was to be vulnerable again.  You can't have love if you're not willing to take the risk.

Matthew Gray Gubler will be at the Monadnock International Film Festival

A line up that includes top works shown at international film festivals over the past year will be part of a three-day local film festival organizers hope will be “world class.”

The Academy Award-nominated film “War Witch”; Sundance-standouts “It Felt Like Love” and “Toy’s House” and John Renoir’s ”The Rules of the Game,” will all be part of the inaugural Monadnock International Film Festival, festival organizers announced Friday during a launch party at the Courtyard Marriot on Railroad Street.

Organizers also announced guest appearances by three well known television celebrities, including Matthew Gray Gubler, who stars on the popular weekly drama “Criminal Minds.”

After setting up six projects at ABC, the ABC Studios-based Mark Gordon Co. is venturing out with a drama sale at CBS and a comedy one at NBC, both produced by ABC Studios.

The CBS project, Darkness Falls, brings together the key auspices behind long-running procedural Criminal Minds — CBS, which airs it; the Mark Gordon Co., ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios, which produce it; and the series’ executive producer/showrunner Erica Messer.
