CRIMINAL MINDS Season 7 - 712. Unknown Subject - Thomas Gibson Teases 150th Ep... SPOILER!

By Sandra Gonzalez

After getting a flood of emails from Criminal Minds fans asking me about the 150th episode, I knew I had to toss in a few questions about it when I hopped on the phone with Thomas Gibson literally a few hours ago to chat about Hotch’s upcoming possible romance (more on that soon!). And while details on the case are a little premature to reveal, he did talk about the rumored revealing scene between Hotch and Emily. “It’s a really nice scene, and it touches on where she was in her personal and professional life in the last year when she was dead,” Gibson reveals. “And it also allows Hotch to reveal a little bit to her about what goes on with him. He says at one point that he’s tired of being profiled through his office window, where prying eyes are wondering what’s going on when he’s talking to people… There’s some really great stuff between these two. I’m hoping people will tune in and like it.”

  1. While it's not a surprise, the confirmation about Hotch and Prentiss not hooking up is still welcomed.

The only thing that leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth is this part of the interview :
"He says at one point that he’s tired of being profiled through his office window, where prying eyes are wondering what’s going on when he’s talking to people".
Is Hotch talking about his team ? I hope not, I would hate to see Hotch thinking about them that way.
Don't get me wrong, Hotch is totally entitled to his privacy, I just think his team members would respect that.
Sure, they could be curious and who could blame them for that ? But I don't think they would 'pry' into his private life, despite potentially being curious they would respect Hotch's need for privacy.

I would hate to see Hotch complaining about the team behavior to Prentiss.

  2. He's probably just speaking in general terms.

It sounds good. Can't wait to see it.

  3. Cendre, that part also leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe he is not talking about his team but generally. I have never seen his team prying into his private life, so it would be strange if he means that. And if he means his job, well, if he is tired of being unit chief why not just leave.

I somehow since a while have the feeling that Hotch is withdrawing himself a little from the team. And with the new woman-friend/lover that will probably become more obvious.

I am not really looking forward to the Hotch/Prentiss "sharing" scenes. Seems OOC for both of them.

  4. I think he's probably referring to everyone, which is perfectly normal for someone who has been through all the trauma he's been through. I've never been attacked in my home by a serial killer or had a loved one murdered by a serial killer, but I have suffered through a very traumatic loss and what he is "tired" of isn't meant as a personal dig at his team or anyone else in his life. You appreciate the people in your life that care enough to want to "profile you through the glass", but that doesn't mean the process of being watched like that doesn't become exhausting.

He's probably tired of the looks, of the sympathetic eyes, and I'm sure he's more than aware that Morgan has been scrutinizing every decision he's made since he Foyet attack. He probably isn't angry about it and he understands that they care and he knows that if the roles were reversed he'd probably react the same way everyone around him has been behaving toward him for the last year or so. However, just because you understand where it's coming from, that doesn't make it any less tiresome to deal with and Emily has probably been getting similar treatment since she got back. I don't think him feeling that way is a bad thing, anyone in his shoes or her shoes would feel the same way. You love the people that care about you the most, but that doesn't mean they still don't make you crazy sometimes.

  5. To sf1387: Thank you for your wonderful comment! I loved reading every single word. It is great to have people like you who would try to explain and understand the situation with such empathy.

I am looking forward to this episode! I love Breen, Thomas and Paget so hopefully it will be a very nice episode to watch.

  6. I think it's great that Hotch and Prentiss might get together Haley may have been ok with his job as a profiler but she ended up punishing him for it in the end and it cost her, her life, he feels distant because in the end he couldn't protect her, Emily on the other understands fully what the job is and he doesn't have to lie to her or feel guilty if he misses a date or something because she's missing it too! Does Reid finally get a love interest?
