  1. I know very few fans agree with me but the thought of a Hotch love interest this season makes me cringe. I guess the ratings will increase even more since fans want to see this. I am shocked. I thought the show was ok this season but now the show is officially ruined for me. When does Hotch have time for a romance this season when he is taking on the work of Strauss & taking care of Jack? Hotch is the last character I want to see with a love interest. Some people say Hotch needs to be happy again. He does not need a love interest to be happy. I want to see him spend more time with Jack & his team. I do not like the Hotch of Season 7 at all. Then if the writers a going this new "happy route for Criminal Minds", I think they should just give all the characters love interests then we can rename the show "Love Interests of the BAU". Of course Jack is not in this episode but his so called love interest is. I feel a love interest for Hotch this season is OOC. Hotch never had time for Haley now he has time for some new woman. It appears that this is just not one date but that it is going to be a romance. In a twitter conversation, Rick Dunkle indirectly suggested this love interest will be in episode 7.14. I am not impressed. Why can't this woman be a friend at least this season. I guess that is not as "exciting" as a love interest I am not happy with the story line the writers gave Hotch, and I am not a Hotch/Prentiss shipper. I am seriously considering not even watching the episode 7.09 which was going to be my last episode ever of the show. I put up with other slight changes on the show but this love interest for my favorite character Hotch is the absolute last straw for me. This upsets me since I was a dedicated fan who perhaps spend way too much time with the show.

  2. I'm happy for Hotch, I hope Beth is here to stay. Even if we might not see much of her in the future, Hotch could make a reference or two about Beth in future episodes.
I hope Hotch and Beth will be happy together.

On a side note, I'm so glad to see that Hotch's love interest is NOT Prentiss. I have nothing against her, and I didn't even think Hotch/Prentiss would really happen on the show (I just don't see it), but I'm still relieved to see the writers won't go down that road !

    Thank you dear writers !

  3. I too am happy for Hotch. He's one of my favorite characters and I look forward to seeing him get the opportunity to get back into the game. Oh and ditto on the Hotch/Prentiss thing. Never want to see any of these characters hooking up with each other.

  4. Count me in the 'I too I'm happy for Hotch'. Why can't Hotch have time for a romance? He and Beth are not setting up house! They will go out together not plan the rest of their lives together! Where does this come from that Hotch must spend most of his time either with Jack or the team? Yes he may spend more time in the office than most but that don't mean he doesn't have time to do other stuff outside of work. Remember Hotch promised Haley to show Jack that love is the most important thing, how can Hotch do that if he never try to find love again? Beside, Hotch is not 90 years old or dead I am sure once in a while he wants to be with a woman! :)

  5. I do not like the idea of a Hotch romance, and clearly I am the lone voice in the wilderness on this issue which saddens me. This is just my opinion, but I hate this idea of a romance, and I am a very dedicated Hotch fan. Hotch does not need a romance to be happy and this story line seems so predictable to me. All shows seem to take the route of romance. At least the writers were somewhat careful about giving characters full blown love interests (besides JJ and Garcia story lines). Reid did not get a love interest in 6 seasons. Even Shemar Moore said Morgan does not have time for romance. I thought Hotch had more duties than Morgan. Showing Jack love does not just mean getting a romance. Love has many definitions such as love of family. He needs to spend more time with Jack (what little time he has). Then if the writers are giving Hotch a romance have him step down as Unit Chief and show he does not care about work as much as he once did. I miss the Hotch of the first 6 seasons. For me, a Hotch romance will result in me never watching the show again. So for those who like a Hotch romance enjoy the new direction of the show this Season. However,I am done with a show and character that are with all due respect nolonger enjoyable but disappointing. This is my opinion, and I respect opposing viewpoints.

  6. OMG! Some people are acting like the show is defiling a sacred object. So Hotch makes a connection with a (gasp!)female. The only thing we know they have in common is they're both training for a triathilon. I'm more bothered by the fact that Hotch has time to train for a triathilon than a supposed romance. That's hard-core training, biking, running and swimming. When does he have time for THAT with everything else?

  7. I watch Criminal Minds to see team interaction and profiling. I watch Grey's Anatomy for romance. If Beth and Hotch hook up ... GOODBYE CM, HELLO GA.

  8. I thought Season 6 was awful. Perhaps I spoke too soon. The thought that Hotch is getting a love interest. NO. NO. NO. I could barely survive one hour of the episodes in S6. With the direction S7 is heading, I'll barely be able to make it too the opening credits.

  9. Good for Hotch ! After Haley and everything he really needs some light in his life. I hope He and Beth hook up, I want to see Hotch happy.
I'm glad Erica Messer is committed to putting a smile on Hotch's face, it's a wise decision in my opinion :).

Also, I totally agree with the other posters about Prentiss, I don't want Hotch and Prentiss to hook up on the show.

The idea of Hotch/Beth is much better, I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait for the episode !

  10. Anon - I think if the show is making you that miserable that you should probably consider just turning the channel. Television is supposed to be fun and entertaining and there is certainly a wide variety of selections out there. I'm sure you could find something that wouldn't cause you so much misery. We all experience moments here and there that we don't like, but it sounds like you haven't liked anything about the show for a long while.

There were a few things about season 6 that I didn't care for, but I found the majority of the episodes entertaining enough. The show is different in some ways than it used to be, but not awful, just different.

Looking forward to seeing Hotch have a "grown-up" life outside of work once again. Even if all she ends up providing is some company and adult conversation it'll be good for him.

  11. Really some people are way too dramatic over Hotch getting a love interest! CM is not getting like GA at all, this storyline is nothing more that a C storyline, it isn't as if CM will become the Hotch and Beth show! I don't see anyone going over board with Garcia and Kevin or JJ and Will and no one thought CM was getting like GA when they showed us the Hotchner's home lives before so why is a few getting all ' oh if Hotch get a girlfriend I will not watch anymore!'?

    All this sound so juvenile!

The thing is, Hotch is a what 43-44 years old man, not a boy or a kid but a man, who is not dead and yes he will want to have relationships be it for romance or just sex. Will Beth stay? Who knows but I'm happy the writers are trying to show Hotch as a normal human being who will not be spending the rest of his life crying over his EX-wife who was the one who did dump him and probably had an affair while being married with Hotch!

  12. Sylvia, I don't think there are very man fans who believe Hotch is dead from the waist down and should spend the rest of his days celibate and focused solely on his child and his job. Other than the shippers being angry and threatening to turn in their CM card, I've found that the majority of the fan reaction to this episode is positive and that most are happy that the writers are finally giving the guy something to smile about.

You are right though. It's not something that is going to monopolize the show. It's just a continuance of Hotch's backstory. : )

  13. Everyone has a different opinion, and I have talked to many fans who agree that Hotch should not get a romance (at least now). One poster suggested that it was "juvenile" to oppose a Hotch romance. While I respect your opinion, I respectfully disagree with this point of view. Many fans opposed the Sever character last year and some people might disagree with this view. Some people might not mind a Hotch romance but would be opposed to a love interest for Reid. We all have different opinions about the direction of the show and what the writers are going to do concerning our favorite characters.I feel many fans are divided again. I totally agree with some of the other anonymous writers on this site who oppose a Hotch romance. I do not want him to get a romance even if it takes up one minute of the so called plot line of the show. I am tired of so many shows being ruined by romantic plot lines. So boring. Not everyone gets a love interest again after someone dies. They find it hard to move on. I thought Hotch would find it really hard to move on. He was so loyal to Haley. I think he should spend time with Jack more not worry about a love interest again. Also, when does he really have time if Morgan does not even have time for a romantic interest. If the writers are going to give Hotch a love interest, give Reid, Prentiss, and Rossi new love interests since they need too be "happy" too. Yes, I am unhappy with the direction of the show, and I am not a shipper. I am just a dedicated fan of Hotch. However, I am nolonger watching this show since I am extremely unhappy with the direction of the show. Season 6 was not great but Season 7 in my honest opinion is much worse. Season 6 was only bad since JJ and Prentiss left. The stories were good. And, Hotch does not need a romance to be happy and smile. I am tired of so many people saying that to be happy in life you need a love interest. I know many people think this in society, but this is not always the case. To me, Hotch does not even seem like the same serious & dedicated Unit Chief he used to be. He seems detached as a Unit Chief this season. As a once dedicated fan,I am done with the show Criminal Minds. I am very saddened by this.

  14. I understand that most people think it is crazy that some fans do not want a Hotch romance and think that only a very few fans oppose this. Yes, maybe most of the fans on some blogs want a Hotch romance but nobody has clear statistics on this topic. This is your opinion and that is completely fine. I am just upset by the fact that Hotch needs romance to smile and has time for this. Reid does need a romance to be happy so why does Hotch? I have made my points clear on some blogs and will not bother anyone with my comments anymore. While you may enjoy the new direction of the show, I do not. I am done with the show and all blogs concerning the show. Thanks for a least reading my opinions.

  15. I totally agree with some of the other anonymous writers on this site who oppose a Hotch romance.

I've been under the impression that all of the anonymous writers expressing extreme discontent with this episode is just one person. The comments and writing styles are so similar every single time. I think if this upsets you so much that is probably best that you are done with show. Nothing on television is worth so much upset. Best wishes for a happier viewing experience where ever you land. : )

  16. While it may appear that this is the case, I know that I am NOT the only one writing on this blog about this. I did not write all of these blogs. While I answered a few, I did not write all of them. Thanks. Enjoy the show.
