Criminal Minds: TVGuide SPOILER for an upcoming episode

Two CBS procedurals will revisit the darkest hours of their characters' lives this fall. In October, Criminal Minds will pay tribute to the murdered wife of Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson). "In our 100th episode five years ago, Hotchner's wife, Haley, was murdered by Foyet [aka the Reaper] and then Hotchner beat Foyet to death," says executive producer Erica Messer.

  1. It's only taken four seasons to get some proper follow up :/

Glad to see Hotch is going to get som kind of story line this season which hopefully, crosses fingers has got nothing to do with Beth, not that I don't want him happy, but I want him to have his own stand alone, actually interesting episode which has nothing to do with Scandal woman.

  2. It will nice to see Hotch with a decent storyline. I agree - Betn has never worked and hopefully we won't see much, if any, of her in S9.

  3. Always look forward to Thomas Gibson scenes; he can be so expressive, even without words.

  4. Good, Thomas Gibson scenes are always nice. But, Beth is not good. please, take Beth out in S9. I want a decent girl for Hotch, not this Scandal woman

  5. I think it's ridiculous that it has taken this long for them to address this. I just hope they aren't doing it to show us, that even though Hotch still misses Haley, he has moved on and is ready to get more serious with that woman.(Beth)

I do however see it as an opportunity for Hotch and Reid to real bond.An opportunity that was sorely missed when Reid lost Maeve last season.

  6. I loved Hotch and Haley, and his never ending love for her inspite of the tragic circumstances. Infact, I love any show that allows Thomas Gibson an opportunity to shine, because he always does. His intense, complex persona is so interesting and I always wondered at what made him into the disciplined leader that he is after being brought up by a womanizing father who may have treated him poorly. My guess a quietly strong mother who posessed the strengths his father lacked combined with the privelege of "old money". Would love to see him interact with such an amazing elderly Mother. Maybe flashbacks at her funeral, just my imagination running rampant AGAIN>LOL. FL

  7. Ok I have a request for tptb regarding this. If there are going to be flashbacks that involve the whole team,
OMG Please! Please do not make poor Reid wear that awful mullet again.

  8. How hard can it be to get Paget Brewster for an episode? She has always spoken highly of cast and crew and has expresed willingness to return for a few eps. People will like or dislike the Blake character even if Prentiss comes back to visit. Please, make it happen for 200. JJ needs her other BFF/Sister. BTW, we need JJ/Penelope moments.

  9. Paget could come back at some point, but I don't think the 200th is the right time. The new team, with Blake, are just settling, and yes people will still like/dislike Blake if Prentiss returns for an episode, just as people liked/disliked Seaver when JJ returned for an episode. But looking back at Lauren, JJ's appearance helped distinguish the two characters. I don't think that would happen for Blake.

Perhaps PB could return in flashback, but I think if Prentiss did show up in an episode,it would be to do with a case and it would focus probably on Prentiss. The writers obviously love the Prentiss character and Paget, but I'm happy enough with just mentions of her rather than seeing the team work with Interpol or wherever it is she's working at

I'd rather have a 200 more about the current team. I think JJ will be at the centre of the 200th episode, but I don't think it will be all about JJ. If they want to look back at JJ's time away, I can imagine them alluding to Prentiss, perhaps even show JJ meeting her in Paris, but I'm guessing it's going to be related to Matt Cruz and whatever issues he's caused for the team. JJ could be in trouble or the whole team could be in trouble and JJ's connection to the new section Chief may be the underlying factor. But the team will be at the forefront, or at least I hope they are for the 200th and JJ is just the glue of the episode.

  10. Well, on one hand I am happy, because even though I am not a Hotch fan, I think he was barely the along season 8. On the other hand, I really hope they won't get back to the romantic story line. There is more than romance to explore in personal lives. I agree with an anonymous that mentioned the wasted opportunity to at least touch the topic of Haley's death when Maeve died in almost identical circumstances. Not a word. And Hotch was the type of boss that will extract you a confession if he had to if he sensed there was something wrong, and would provide good advice, but along these two last seasons he is just mute. He did try to say something to Reid when that writer guy killed himself by the pool, but Reid didn't even answered and he let him go away. That was so out of character... I wish Hotch would come back strong as he was, and not as a distant man he became.
