I think this looks like a great episode. However, I am now not looking forward to this season since I heard a disturbing spoiler. I have viewed posts and information, but I have never posted anything on Criminal Minds fan sites. However, the spoiler that I read recently has convinced me to post a comment. On Fan Forum. Com under Spoilers #5(page 1), one of the moderators (he did not post his source) posted a spoiler thread about JJ and Hotch having an affair during Season 7 of Criminal Minds (even though JJ is supposed to be married). I am shocked, disappointed, and upset to say the least! In early July, Erica Messer indicated that although episodes will explore a "relationship" between JJ and Hotch, this relationship will not be romantic. Now I hear this news. Has Messer changed her mind? I have always respected writers and producers' decisions not to ship any of the characters. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS WHAT SEPARATED CRIMINAL MINDS FROM MANY OTHER SHOWS ON TELEVISION, AND I BELIEVE THIS IS WHY THE SHOW LASTED FOR SIX SEASONS! I think that the writers can think of MUCH MORE creative story lines for the characters besides relationships between the characters. While I do not object to fans shipping JJ/Hotch in fan fictions, I do not want romances between characters (especially affairs) to occur on the show itself. The writers never explored how Hotch coped with his wife's death, and I think that Hotch would never have an affair with a subordinate. This is not consistent with his character! I want to see more character interaction as a family. Romances between characters cheapen the show significantly and show a lack of creativity in writing. I rather have had the show end in season 6 rather than it continue with romances between characters. I have not seen the JJ and Hotch affair spoiler on any other spoiler site, but am VERY concerned since moderators sometimes have "inside sources". I HOPE THIS SPOILER IS MISINFORMATION OR THAT THE WRITERS CHANGE THEIR MINDS. I WISH THAT SOMEONE WOUD EASE MY FEARS BY INDICICATING THAT THIS SPOILER IS NOT TRUE. I FEAR THAT THIS SHOW WILL END AFTER SEASON 7 IF SUCH STORY LINES ARE WRITTEN. If this information is true, I will no longer watch the show or buy the DVDs. This saddens me greatly since Criminal Minds is the best show on TV. I have talked with many other fans, and they all indicated that they will no longer watch the show if characters are shipped. I do not know how to contact any of the writers or producers, but I thought that I would post my lengthy rant here in case they read these blogs. Again, sorry for such a long post!!!
No, there's no spoiler about Hotch and JJ having an affair. People on fanforum are jumping to conclusions and misreading the actual spoiler. The spoiler said that the show will explore the Hotch and JJ relationship and that there's NOTHING romantic about the relationship. I read the fanforum site, and read the spoiler. It comes from TV Guide. It was posted here on this site. You'll have to go back a few pages to find it, but it's there. And, I don't know why people there are speculating on this possible romance/affair when Erica Messer made a point to specifically say the relationship between them WAS not romantic.
Hopefully, Anonymous, you'll read this, because I'd hate to see you get upset about something without cause.
(I tried to post this earlier but it didn't go through). So, if there's a double post, that's why.
They painted themselves into a corner with this ridiculous Prentiss arc. It'll be a great job by the writers if they can get out of the hole they're in, and I'm not holding my breath. I am all but out of faith with this show after the way they have messed round with character, plot and with the actors too.
Pretty sad the way they treated Rachel Nichols too. The woman deserved better from the show and from the fans.
I'm a true blue CM fan, have all the DVD's, and have spent hours studying the profiling and character developments of what I saw as a brilliant team , but this season's premiere left me upset and anxious about what might be coming next. Now we all know that people change somewhat overtime with accumulation of life's experiences, but the team members this time around were so weird and out of character that I was left wondering whether I could muster up my usual admiration for them. Have they had a meltdown in the writer's dept. or something at CBS? We know that this was an epic directed at fixing all the bad judgement stuff from last season, but OMG the story was so full of absurdities that it made most of the team look anything but cohesive. Way too much covered without benefit of natural human responses. Ex: Hotch's authority lacking, Morgan's deserved anger only lamely express. When in the past would he have just accepted lame rationalization from Hotch? Hotch "This is not about you or me, it was about saving Prentiss." I'm surprised that Morgan never physically pinned him to the wall. And JJ appeared harsh and callous while Prentiss's corny "save the team" ending just looked foolishly like fairy tale drama. What a scattered and tattered scenerio. I'll keep watching, but please CBS staff - get it together and let these really good actors reach their potential once again.
Respectful opinions, and constructive disagreement is welcomed, but insulting/foul-mouthed, malicious, or just plain disrespectful comments towards anyone are not, and will be removed.
