  3. Does this mean the contracts are all signed, or not necessarily?

  4. Per Deadline, no, not all contracts are signed, but they don't specify which ones are and which ones aren't.

Take note too.. Deadline hasn't been 'that' up to date with their upfronts reporting this year either...So not sure if this is issue or not.. :)

  6. HELLS YES!!!!!! LONG LIVE CRIMINAL MINDS!!! I, too, am going to miss Kate; personally, I thought she was the best female character since Prentiss (besides JJ) but at least, according to Erica, we're going to have our original six, and from what it sounds like, some interesting ideas including Reid's love life!! I normally wouldn't expect it to be true, but my faith in EM's word has gone waaaayyy up since she said that "Nelson's Sparrow" would be a "love letter to fans who have been with us since the beginning" and I can't think of a better way to describe it; I'm sure others would agree. Bring on Season 11!

Sharon Lee Watson and Virgil Williams are at their absolute best, and Erica becoming so much better of a writer, Bruce Zimmerman has proven himself quite competent thanks to "A Place at the Table," and "Mr. Scratch" completely renewed my faith in Breen Frazier and magnified my love for MGG.... I'm expecting great things!
    LONG LIVE CM

  7. Will have to see. It may not be the same show we know and love. TOTB may let (and I say may let) some of the actors walk so that they can hire unknown actors at a much lower salary to trim down the budget. We just have to wait out the contract negotiations and hope it doesn't happen. Sorry to be the party pooper...lol.

  8. If they get rid of Reid, and/or Hotch, they will lose me, and many fans.

    1. Me too! It's only Reid that's kept me hanging in through recent sub par seasons, After a much better Season 10 I am hoping to see much more of Reid and Hotch and a continuation of the improvement. I suspect it is Shemar who still has to decide to come on board. Quite frankly, after the tenor of his recent tweets I will be annoyed if he actually stays!

  9. Ditto on Hotch. No Hotch no watch. I would still watch without Reid but the show would not be the same.

    1. Same for me... No Hotch No Watch.....
They don't need to replace JLH... It is my belief based on postings that it's probably SM holding out contract wise from the cast... and quite frankly get rid of him and bring in a good minority female to replace him and take care of 'both' Morgan/Kate's roles on the team..
It could be contracts being negotiated for showrunner/writers too... I highly doubt Erica will be 'active' showrunner with Beyond Borders picked up...so it's a matter of 'who' will be co-showerunner?

As of today ... AJC and JM have both tweeted about the renewal... JM has in a recent interview said that He, TG & MGG are all slated to direct next year.... KV has stated that she's pretty much going to do more writing next year.. That leaves SM who's only been tweeting stuff that sounds like 'goodbye'... Would his decision be a career killer... I think so.. but Hey, I won't cry if he's gone either....

    2. I doubt anyone is leaving, besides JLH... With Kirsten writing, I can guarantee Shemar will be on the show. JM, TG, and MGG are all slated for 2 episodes each. You're absolutely right in the fact that if Shemar leaves, it would be a career killer, which is why I'm almost positive he will return. Criminal Minds is pretty much his major vessel with and through which he can operate his charity for Multiple Sclerosis, in honor of his Mom.
      LONG LIVE CM!

    3. Don't bank on that SCMA......... Shemar is the 'only' one who's not been posting about the renewal... Not only that alot of his recent posts have been seemingly getting his fans used to the idea that he won't be back. If CBS is indeed expecting CM's budget to be reduced they may not want to agree to what he may ask for.. it it's more than they are willing to spend on him they'll let him go and save even more money... CBS did something similar with CSI Miami cast and David Caruso... and that ended up with CSI Miami being cancelled and no series ending..

    4. Yikes! Well, I sure hope that isn't the case here... Rockie's comment below gives me a little hope... a lot of people think Shemar/Morgan is expendable, but I think his character is pivotal to the show. His Bomb Squad experience, the flirtatious relationship with Garcia, the kicking down of many doors, going all alpha-male on suspects, and most of all his powerful backstory which started with "Profiler, Profiled." People might think these are all less than desirable facets of the show, but I don't. CBS don't you mess with my team! You might very well be right, Barbara, but ...I hope not lol ...guess we'll all know soon enough.

    5. Personally they haven't shown 'any' of the teams individual talents in a long time... So much that I don't think alot of viewers even remember they have them.. Morgan isn't pivotal to the show either which way. The relationship between he and Garcia was cute and fun in the beginning, not it's just over the top sexual harassment. Garcia has been turned into an infantile caricature of what she was supposed to be in my book. And that's just so she can have 'more screen time'.... The Black Queen settled for me ANY doubt I may have had about these writer's knowing the character's back stories... They showed Morgan 'present' when Garcia was arrested and offered the position with the FBI... Truth is he wasn't........ Tabula Rosa clearly showed that Garcia was already working for Hotch and the BAU and Morgan didn't know who she was. He didn't know she was the 'tech girl' and he certainly didn't know her name. ( He called her Gomez, and when she didn't answer he called out to her Baby Girl.) Hense how that nickname came to be...If Tabula Rosa is right Morgan wasn't with Hotch when she was hired. Morgan's muscle can be optained via anyone. Certainly TG could handle the action scenes. Guest cast could too. There is 'nothing' that makes Morgan special anymore. So if he leaves I will not miss him at all.

  10. First off, it's MHO that CBS would not have made this announcement if they weren't dotting the "i's" and crossing the "t's" on TG and JM's contracts.

As to "cutting the budget", I believe that is CBS saying don't fill the empty spot left by JLH leaving. Like I said at the top,, this is all conjecture on my part.

I too follow SM on Twitter and with what I perceive as his ego, if he was leaving to do movies, he'd be bragging about it. I may wrong and CBS has him on the "verbal leash". But I really don't think so. I believe he's just doing his usual of stirring up his fan base. But I've wrong before.

My question is about the top brass at CM. As pointed out earlier, EM is going to focusing on the spinoff. And if John Hatchitt's tweets are credible (which I believe they are; John's a stand-up guy), Janine is moving on to a new project.

I've got my hidden wish and have seen some evidence of it on Twitter. But that could be coincedence and I'm not going to put a lot of hope into my hidden wish. But I'd love to see it happen. Oh well. At least we've got a Season 11.

    1. About SM. Yes I too believe he was stiring up the fan base but his lack of tweeting/posting about CM renewal got me wondering. I think he could be the cast member that is not sign.

As for Erica, I think CBS will either hired or promote one of the writer as co-showrunner if Erica need help to manage two shows on a daily basis. I too think, if Hatchitt tweet is to be believe that JSB is / did leave.

yes, we got a S11 and for this I am grateful :)

  11. I don't know why people think Shemar is the "holdout" - he has absolutely zero power to demand anything in the way of role or extra money, and he wouldn't even if he hadn't said he was "leaving after 10" last year, more than once. He's in the position that if he said he wasn't coming back unless they give him more money, they would show him the door, saying, we already wrote you off last year.

If anything is a holdup, it's either TG, who has the star power to demand a few things, or it's a writer/showrunner problem because of the spinoff.

    1. Su... Has nothing to do with power.. has to do simply 'is he signed'.... I can confidently say that I do NOT think for one minute that CBS would have renewed CM if TG wasn't already signed and on board.. Neither would they have committed to order Beyond Borders if CM wasn't going to be there to anchor it.

The other thing is that not only are cast contracts up, but showrunner and writer contracts up and when sites report that all contracts haven't been finalized could simply mean that there are either cast or showrunner/writer contracts to be signed... The have to deal with the directors and contracts for them, plus even the crew is union so those contracts will have to be worked out too..

    2. That's what I'm saying, Barb, Shemar is not a holdout, because someone gumming up the works would have to have power, like TG or a show runner. Even the crew is waiting to hear if they have a job - yes, they are union, but if the show was not picked up, their union contracts would have no meaning. If TG didn't sign, no contract that Shemar hoped for would have any meaning, because there wouldn't be a show. Hence, Shemar is not a holdout, and is not holding anything up, so it mystifies me that people are complaining that he is.

    3. I wasn't saying Shemar was holding this up - merely that he may be the last one to sign a contract. They wouldn't have announced that CM was picked up if TG and JM were not safely signed. I just think Shemar may still be vascillating and I just want to know for sure who is in for season 11. As you say, it may well be writers or showrunner contracts. We may never know much anyway. At the end of the day I am just nosy - if MGG is safely on board then so am I.

    4. I'm pretty sure because of their status that TG and JM might agree to tentative contracts pending the outcome of the rest of the casts contracts... IF SM or any of them aren't signed yet, that could mean TG and JM could still nix signing formally if CBS/ABC gave Shemar more then them... I'm pretty confident that this is all formality been unions/agents/studios... As with how SM has been acting I would think CBS/ABC would give him their best and final offer that is in line with keeping TG/JM onboard and if he doesn't sign.... oh well 'thank you for your time with the show, but goodbye'....

      Delete
  12. I think as far as the 'holdout' term... it's being used to signify that he hasn't signed yet... Not really that he has the 'power' to effect the show or what happens to it really.... I would think because of their position TG & JM might have 'tentative' contracts pending what shakes out with SM.... and that could impact the show...
