  1. Excited about this episode. Glad to see that they are taking their time with Reid's grieving process. He really has had quite an amazing season this time around.

  2. Glad to see this ep description. Was a little distressed to read Shemar's comment that the "goof Einstein" Reid would be back by the end of the season. I much prefer the grown up Reid from S 3,4 & 5. He's too old and has been through too much to be so infantile.

  3. I do not like the word goofy being used to describe Reid.He is not Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory.
Sadly though I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if these so called writers were trying to make him more like Sheldon,bc of how popular TBBT happens to be.

  4. I would never have called Reid's character goofy ... maybe quirky at times. Remember his "evil twin/eviler twin" theory? I loved that scene ... BTW, that's who has my vote for the Replicator. :)

  5. I like how they aren't dropping the storyline but there are other storylines I would have preferred to have been continued over this one or at least had more focus than The Maeve storyline (I astill think the only reason Maeve came into the show at all was because the writers didn't know what to do for Reid fans after he didn't have as much focus on his in season 7)

I agree with goofy Reid, he's an FBI agent, he shouldn't be treat or act goofy (unless it's after work it isn't forced). Most of the time with The Reid character I think MGG has his own ideas and quirks he likes to add in and while it works for him the character ends up suffering, like the whole technology thing, revolver or sudden germ phobia that has just started coming up in the last few seasons.

  6. The only time the Reid character approached goofiness was in season 7 when the writers were clueless what to do with him. Up until then I agree quirky was a much better descriptive word.

This season however the character is back in top form! Quirky, vulnerable, emotionally confused, guilty and brilliant. I'm so happy they are continuing the Maeve storyline and I think it's great to see Reid, whom I find to be one of the most fascinating on the show, getting such great character development. Thank you writers!

And to the above poster, I can understand if you are not a Reid fan but the "revolver" thing? Reid's been carrying a revolver since 2008!

  7. Why would an FBI agent carry a revolver in the field? I don't think Ive ever understood why he would even think a revolver is a good weapon to carry especially as he always ends up being held hostage or in some type of peril :p

  8. I'm a bit unsure about what I think about the grieving thing. I mean, it is natural that he would still be grieving; however, it has not been consistent. He was grieving one episode and the next he seemed fine. Then he does something to try to avoid the same outcome with Maeve and the next he's fine.

I really don't want to see him being "goofy". I agree that Reid was never goofy. But the current writers think of Reid as immature and as comic relief. They are inconsistent on whether or not he has a sense of humor.

Look back at season one "L.D.S.K.". Reid was able to pick up on Hotch's cues to know what he planned and followed through without any hesitation. In the end he cracked a joke and showed that he was tougher than he looked. I still think "you kick like a 9-year-old girl" was one of my favorite lines on the show. Reid understood humor and was able to pick up on subtleties.

Now they seem to think he's a social retard or something. He has always been awkward and somewhat shy, but they actually made him regress and be less intelligent and observant.

Revolvers with longer barrels actually have pretty good aim-- unfortunately Reid has a 3-inch barrel which reduces accuracy.

There are other stories I would like to have seen-- like whatever was up with Reid's mother. Instead they keep bringing in stories that were already resolved-- like Morgan's issues.

Why not finally give more info on whether or not Hotch was abused as a child? Why not say whatever happened to Reid's dad after "Memoriam"? What was going on with Reid's mom that required him to take a 3 month sabbatical?

I agree that some of the things Matthew pushed did not make sense for the character. I know he means well, but I wish the writers had just said "no".

The only way I can see the sudden germaphobia working is if his mother had some horrible illness caused by germs and nearly died and/or he himself had some sort of autoimmune disorder sparked by germs that left him sort of paranoid about them and now he is afraid to get sick again-- perhaps the disorder was the cause of his headaches.

But I'm sure we won't get that much of an explanation on the show.
