Strauss's children huh...That's gonna be different
ReplyDeleteStrauss's children in an episode might mean that she is the one targeted by the Replicator.

Woohoo! So excited that Beth is back!
ReplyDeleteSo NOT excited that Beth is back! She really jars - a bad fit for Hotch.
ReplyDeleteBeth is the only reason Messer set this episode New York. 90% of the press for this episode has revolved around Beth, and little or nothing has even been said about Sean. It's not a Hotchner reunion, but a blatant excuse Messer used to shove her gag-inducing fairy princess down the fans' throats again. Some of us did not miss Princess Perfect at all. 'Bad fit for Hotch' is right! To which I would add: one-dimensional, poor-written, unrealistic Mary Sue.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see Sean Hotchner will be back! I'm a fan of Beth, she is good for Hotch, she is a happy and confident person, something Hotch need in his life, so I am happy she is back.
ReplyDeleteAs for the final, I too think it could be Strauss, why would her kids be in that episode if not for Strauss being targeted by the Replicator?
I would have preferred to see Maeve and Reid rather than Hotch and Beth play out ( I love Hotch way more than Reid, but instead of Reid angst I'd have like Reid being happy and had Hotch getting a better storyline than Beth)
ReplyDeleteI hope Beth is in it for all of 2 seconds, I usually fast forward through her scenes and I want to see the Hotchner brothers ( I really, really hope Jack isn't getting a brother, don't know why I just thought of that but I did and just no, less Beth the better IMO). I liked the actress who play Maeve but there's something odd about how the other actress plays Beth. I like that she makes Hotch happy but I don't like the two actors together.
For the finale, I think it's not going to end well for Strauss with her three unnamed children being cast as well. She was classed as a team member last season in the episode where we found out she was a drunk. She has something going on with Rossi and there was the whole thing between her and Blake putting away an innocent man ( who I still think is the big bad). I think it would also changed the dynamics of the team especially if it means team changes after Strauss' demise (if it happens Hotch could become section chief) who knows what's going to happen. I'm looking forwards to the finale especially if there's a cliffhanger, but don't want to get my hopes up too much to be disappointed!
Kat
I wish people who hate Beth or Blake or whoever else just stop posting hate on and on and just talk about characters they like. Most of reasons of hate are just from distaste and nothing instructive and honestly their posts are only to make people who like the characters sad.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I really looking forward to the finale, especially "Brothers Hotchner" because I think we will finally get a decent episode about Hotch. And if Strauss who is going to die in finale (it's a possibility), I hope it will not mean Hotch to be section chief (because that means he will become secondary character in season 9 at most).
Kay
I also think it doesn't look good for Strauss in the finale - there would be no obvious other reason for her 3 kids to be in it. As for Beth, she is just wrong! Much as I would like Hotch to be happy after all he has been through, the scenes with Beth are so forced and stilted that I just cringe and have to fast forward.Very much a fabricated Mary Sue and just so, so wrong. It would definitely have been better for Reid and Maeve to be together.
ReplyDeleteThe fans who hate Beth and Blake have every right to voice their opinions, as much as the fans who gush and coo over them. Get over the fact that not everyone likes crappy romance plotlines in their crime fiction.
ReplyDeleteBeth lowers the tone of the entire series. She is a prancing pink unicorn of non-reality.
Lol to the prancing pink unicorn of non reality :p
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I hate the idea of Beth, I just don't like how it's been handled, the same with Blake, I actually love the actress but I think I was expecting something different with who the character was supposed to be. Levels of expectation must just be kept low sometimes with this show. things that i wasnt expecting like sometimes becomes what I like the most, but relationships on this show nearly always is last thing I like.
Kat
I agree with Kat. It's not that I want to have only angst for the characters - far from it. It is just that Beth is simply not right. The relationship never rang true from the very start and the sooner she disappears from the scene the better because the more she is in it, the worse the disconnect between the characters gets. And also Lol to the prancing pink unicorn of non reality! That's so exactly what Beth is! And I reserve my right to say exactly what I think about the characters. Hotch is not my favorite character but I do think he is an amazing, complex, damaged individual and Beth, the poorly-drawn escapee from a Romcom, is just not right for him.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing against Beth per say but I think the decision to partner Hotch off with a full time girlfriend boxed in and limited his character. Reid has had a roller coaster of a season spinning through his grief and emotions. I've already seen Alchemy and let me tell you it was amazing. IMO, Reid's arc was definitely the better played.

Sigh....I do miss the days when this show targeted a mature, cerebral audience that never would've polluted the comments with nonsense about guests that consume a minute or two of screen time. This show needs to be put out of its misery so these talented actors can move on to something a bit meatier, not to mention challenging. Please do not renew CBS and let us all pretend that it only lasted for five seasons because in reality, it was only good, quality, must see TV for four and a half.
ReplyDeleteSigh... strange how people cannot see how guests occupying relatively short screen time can be pivotal to the feel of the show and the characters. The personal glimpses have been key elements since the beginning and it is so important to get it right. I agree the show lost its way in seasons 6 and 7, but this year has been pretty good and last night's episode Alchemy was all kinds of amazing.
ReplyDeleteI loved this season but everyone has a character or two they don't click with and this is a nice place to comment on both the good and bad, other sites have a lot louder people who don't allow for discussion. Just because Beth is not my favourite character I don't expect everyone not to like her as well, I like to hear the alternative opinions and arguments. It makes for a nice discussion. Not many people I know watch CM so dont understand why I care about what Hotchs storyline is or why the new girl hasn't clicked with the rest of the team yet (IMO) just as I don't care about what song is sung on Glee or whatever the hell is happening on Scandal.
ReplyDeleteWe've just seen All That Remains on Sky here and it goes in my top ten favourite episodes it kept my attention throughout the whole episode and felt old school CM, sure some of the plot could have been better, but I'd definitely watch again and again. So I think season eight has been a huge improvement since season 6 but there are loads more storylines I would have preferred to see over the characters love lives, yes we only see snippets but for Hotch and Reid, Beth and Maeve have been their significant storylines and for two of the characters which get the most focus on the show, I would have liked to have been more invested in their relationships than I actually am (I would take Maeve over Beth any day even though I wasn't inthralled with the zuzwang episode).
Kay
*Kat not Kay, don't know why ipad changed to Kay :(
ReplyDeleteI think they're going to leave us with a cliffhanger and not tell us who the team loses until they finish contract negotiations.
ReplyDelete- RF
That would be incredibly cruel of them but would make a good cliffhanger for us to fret over!
ReplyDeletePeople can voice their opinions about the characters as long as they are polite and respectful of the writers, cast and fans who have different opinions. As long as everything remains friendly, we will let the discussion happen.
ReplyDeleteAs for the person posting as Anonymous ( why not posting a name?) asking for CBS to not renew CM, if you do not like what CM is now, why still watching? Why should CM get not renewed just because you do not like it?
Different line of conversation...
ReplyDeleteSo because I'm weird, I noticed that there's an actress in both parts of finale, Kara Luiz who is playing Liz Leonte, so she must be significant somehow, also she kind of looks like Maeve, did we learn Maeve's last name?
I noticed that casting bit too; that character will probably have a notable part.
ReplyDeleteMaeve's complete name was Maeve Donovan.
