Deadline Hollywood 'Fans, Co-stars Back Criminal Minds Actresses'
From Deadline Hollywood:
The controversy over CBS’ decision not to pick up Criminal Minds co-star A.J. Cook for next season and to reduce the episode load of another female cast member, Paget Brewster, is not blowing over as fans’ campaign to reinstate them is growing. An online petition in their support has garnered 15,500 signatures, with the number rapidly growing. Among those who have signed it are Criminal Minds co-star Kirsten Vangsness, who is returning full-time next season, as well as Kevin Pollack and Paul Tompkins.
Several other Criminal Minds cast members have voiced their opinion via Twitter. Brewster was the most blunt, taking an issue with the network’s description of its reasons for the casting changes as "creative." ""Creative Reasons" has been an Executive Bullshit excuse for DECADES,” she wrote. “It IS financial. AJ is a dreamboat. And yes, I am hurt, too.”
Here is Thomas Gibson’s tweet: “To say we're all mystified and disappointed is an understatement...” Cook, who had been silent since I broke the story on Monday, sent out a thank-you Tweet today: “Your kind words and support have made me feel wanted and loved!” Meanwhile, fans are also emailing CBS executives and have called CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler.

Come on everyone sign the petition, make a call, send a letter, send an email. Pass the message on to others. Let's not have one our great shows ruined by such a decision. These two characters and actresses deserve it, and deserve to be treated better. The decision is also a slap in the face to women everywhere.
ReplyDeleteCalls are the most effective way we have to make our voice be heard so please people call!
ReplyDeleteYES! And we have ONLY JUST BEGUN to voice our extreme displeasure with this "creatively stupid brain-fart of an executive decision". Has CBS looked at their demographics for this show? Do they know who their primary audience is??? DUH? If they want to cut costs - fire the brain-trust that thought this was a splendid idea!!! AJ and Paget - we LOVE you and you are both such indispensable parts of the Criminal Minds "team" that we will not let this asinine decision go unchallenged!
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be a long summer - I have time - I have a laptop with WiFi - I have a list of corporate sponsors - and I have a "mad-on" as big as Texas!
Let's Dance CBS!

Just a suggestion. Since they've mentioned bringing in a new actress to replace AJ, when people sign the petition or call they should make sure it's understood that they want AJ and Paget. Not just strong women, but these particular strong women.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this. When I originally spoke to Nellie about this, I was afraid it would get overlooked. I have thanked her a million times for jumping on this!! We CAN DO THIS!! ~Ali and Staff @IKY_dU
ReplyDeleteIt was a foolish idea to let Cook go from the show, but maybe one of the dumbest to let Bruster go, these shows need characters can relate too, and people can see as role models, you had two very strong willed women in these parts, and if CBS doesn't want to lose a good chunk of their audience they will keep Emily Prentis as a character and hopefully find another strong female actor to replace the loss of Cook. Not that Vangness is not a strong character, but she's like the crazy aunt next store, not your regular tough to the grind stone character that the two other portray. Shame on you CBS!
