This episode opens with a couple, who are involved in an extra-marital affair, having an argument. They find the body of a young man who has been murdered.
Then it flashes to JJ, Henry and JJ's mom, Sandy. JJ and her mother are arguing about whether or not, and how much, Henry should be told about JJ's sister's suicide. JJ is upset because she and Will had agreed not to talk with Henry about it until Henry is older and could understand, but Sandy brought up her sister without discussing it with JJ first.
The team flies to Missoula, MT to investigate the murder due to friction between the students at the local university and the community because they think the murder may be related to an earlier incident where a wealthy student recently got out of a hit and run charge.
During the plane trip, another body is discovered. Also, they find that the first victim may possibly been homosexual and that this could be a hate crime instead of payback for the hit and run victim. There is a witness that confirms that the victim was gay, but that Clark pretended to be heterosexual.
The second victim, Brubaker, was not gay and had been filming sexual encounters with girls and sharing the videos with his friends. Both of the first two victims were "stabbed a lot" according to the medical examiner.
There is a lot of profiling in the episode, especially since the victims and the murders are different. It is JJ who realizes that the Unsub is female and is an "avenging Cinderella". But, it is Kate Callahan, the newest member of the team, who realizes that the Unsub must work at a dry cleaner and breaks the case.
At the end of the episode, Garcia works her computer magic to locate where the Unsub lives, but she's not at home, so Garcia locates her by triangulating the cell phone location of her co-worker from the dry cleaner. Reid uses the Unsub's Cinderella fantasy to keep her from killing a fifth victim.
I did like that there was a lot of profiling in this episode and that it wasn't a clear case from the beginning. This season, Rossi seems almost absent to me. There was a little too much intimate banter with Garcia about Morgan for me. Having recently lost a sibling to suicide, the struggle with JJ and her feelings about her sister's suicide really touched me.
All in all, I thought it was one of the better episodes of this season and I enjoyed watching it. I hope you enjoyed it too!
