Matthew Gray Gubler: Directorial Debut "Will Creep You Out"
What's one way to cope with directing withdrawal? Chop off your hair.
That's what Matthew Gray Gubler did.
"When it ended, I was so distraught, like, 'Oh no! What do I do?' ... I was so bored. I just flipped out and cut my damn hair! I did it with, like, a hunting knife. It was bad," the Criminal Minds star tells TVGuide.com. "I looked like a Super Mario Bros. Goomba. It's arguably the ugliest haircut on the planet."
Unfortunately, no one will get to see the result of his raw barber skills as his 'do was "shaped up" at work. But fans will get to see Gubler's other skills — and the realization of his lifelong dream — Wednesday: his directorial debut on the hit series (9/8c, CBS). "I hate to take credit, but it turned out to be something I'm very proud of," he says. "If there's one thing I'm good at, I would hope to God it's directing because I know that I've spent pretty much the last 28 years of my life preparing for that!"

Mantegna basks in glow of Scripps Super Sage Award
LOS ANGELES - Winning awards is nothing new for actor Joe Mantegna. He has won a Tony award, been nominated for three Emmys and received numerous other honors and accolades during a stage and screen career that spans more than 40 years.
But Tuesday was something new for the Chicago native. Mantegna won the 2010 Super Sage Award trophy for having the closest prediction out of the 103 stars who participated in the 21st annual Scripps Howard Celebrity Super Bowl Poll. Mantegna received the trophy Tuesday on the set of his current TV show, "Criminal Minds."
"I haven't won an award for football," he said. "I've lost a little cash from football, but I haven't won an award before.''
Mantegna earned a Tony in 1984 for his performance as smooth-talking salesman Richard Roma in the play, "Glengarry Glen Ross." He shared the Best Actor award at the 1988 Venice Film Festival with his "Times Change" co-star, Don Ameche. He's been nominated for three Emmy awards, including for his portrayal of Dean Martin in the 1998 HBO film, "The Rat Pack." But this was his first sports award in nearly 50 years.

An Interview with Howard Griffith of Criminal Minds
QUIXOTE STUDIOS–Howard Griffith is, for lack of a better term, a man’s man. No nonsense. No fuss. Long-sleeved, flannel shirt. White, peppered beard. A calm manner and deep voice (with just the tiniest hint that he’s from the South). He is, indeed, a born and raised Texan–one who used to bull-ride (no joke), likes football and served in Vietnam. Sometime after getting back from ‘Nam, the man accidentally found himself on a film crew, fell in love with the business and never looked back. That…was thirty-something years ago. Now, he’s in LA; the Co-Producer of the Emmy-nominated show Criminal Minds. And I’m about to bother him with question after question…
Inside and upstairs and at the end of the hall, I approach the office of Howard Griffith. His walls are covered with papers but not a thing is out of place. Each month’s calendar is perfectly lined, stretching across the wall behind him. I see week after week, and month after month into the future. Above them, are the individual photos of the cast of Criminal Minds. Their names; their characters. I study them for a minute before noticing all the binders that are in order. The papers. Files. Pens. The man is organized.

Criminal Minds Favorite Victims - Part 6
This is our final post in our favorite UNSUB and favorite VICTIM series. We had a great time putting all this together and hope it gave you some new glimpses into our favorite show.
Riding the Lightening (S1, Ep 14) Sarah Jean Dawes portrayed by Jeanetta Arnette
The word that comes to mind when we think about Sarah Jean Dawes is “grace.” She was on death row, about to be executed for crimes she didn’t commit and she exuded grace. She was willing to sacrifice her own life to give her son Riley, the life he deserved. By going to her death without seeking a stay of execution to prove her innocence, she saved him from the trauma of finding out that his birth father was a horrible serial killer of young girls. Her dignity and grace moved the entire team.
